I Used to Care About Money

Well, actually I still do.

Care about money that is.  Although my cares are usually about the lack of and trying to pay rent, school fees, food, electricity, bladdy blah blah blah.

But it appears there are others in the world who don't care about money. AT all.

Because guess why?  Betcha can't!!

Because they have SO MUCH FRIGGING money they don't need to worry about it.

Just emptied my wallet

I read with some interest that Chelsea Clinton apparently "...tried to care about money but couldn't".

Interesting concept. Perhaps I might give it a try.  I just won't care about money.  There. Not a care in the world.

Oh, sorry, I think I may have forgotten something. You see, Chelsea Clinton - yes, she of the wedded bliss of Bill 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman' Clinton and Hilary 'We Are Not Truly Well Off' Clinton, is apparently married to a hedge fund manager and has just bought a $10.5 million home next to New York's Madison Square Park.

Now that WAS awkward

Well, good on them. They obviously work very hard, and perhaps got a dollar or two loan from Ma and Pa for the deposit.

What's that?

You asked just what does Chelsea do?
Time has been kind

She apparently is under contract with NBC in the good ol' US of A.

Oh, well, that would make her a hard working journalist or producer or make up artist you might think.

No, not at all.  Apparently young Chels is paid $600 000 per annum for a 'smattering' of reporting.  How much is a smattering?  Is a smattering more than a single smatter?

According to a very reliable source (Daily Mail), Chels hasn't filed a story since January cos good old Mumsie is thinking of running for the Big Kahuna position in the States and Chelsea might apparently say something embarrassing, or not have enough in the petty cash tin to get those pesky curls straightened at the hair dresser or some such nonsense.

Oh we all have embarrassing teenage pics

Anyway, as it is now nearing the end of June, I think Ms. Clinton is doing remarkably well for someone who hasn't had to WORK SINCE FRIGGING JANUARY.

But, in a final note, I think Chelsea is setting herself up well.
Apparently she is considering her own political career down the track.  Once again, she won't have to worry about her own money because as good politician's do, she will be spending others.

Do you worry about money?

Is the Pope a Catholic??

Have you worked since January???

Cheers

Complete and Utter Ramblings (I Blame The Flu!)

Well, here I am again.  I have finally been able to let go of the Senior Sarge now that all his test results are clear and basically he is probably just a growing boy, growing being the operative word as he seems to grow every night.

I am very lucky, exceedingly so, with my two offspring.  We rarely argue (well excluding the fact that the SS and I had a doozy of a barney last night - could be associated with the fact that I have my first yucky cold in about three years and feel like crap) but I'm sure once his ban on electrics is over, and a bit f a run at footy training tonight will ensure we are back on track.

However, in a selfish way, it's not only luck.  I have put in a lot of time and effort, as many parents do, in to trying to provide as much as I can for these two and for ensuring they know what is right and wrong.  And so does their Dad. We may not have been able to be married, and let's face it we still don't agree on a lot of stuff, but he is their Dad, and despite what has happened between us, we both want the best for our kids.

Oh, in saying providing as much as I can, I don't mean material things. I mean love, happiness, different experiences and a lot of laughs.

I'm not really sure where this piece of writing is going today but I just felt like getting back on this blog bike and trying to keep it going.  In my own personal cathartic way.

But I have been looking around the world of late and looking at the way some people are making choices.  Good and bad.  Oh, I am not criticising anyone's right to make a choice, heaven knows I still don't make the correct ones too bloody often, but by golly by gosh some people really need to look outside their own frigging world. OK, so maybe I am criticising, No one's perfect.

We don't know how lucky most of us are. Yes, I have a crappy cold, my throat has stolen all the razor blades from my shower (side note - thank goodness I'm not baring my legs whilst I appear to have ingested these razors), and at times at the moment I am feeling a little overwhelmed with trying to work one and three quarter full time jobs every day.

But, it was my choice to put myself under this extra workload, and it's only for a few weeks.  It seems no matter how hard we work, there really isn't any $$$ left over at the end of the week.

However, I am happy.  Ok, could be breathing a bit easier, my fringe was cut too short at my last haircut and I really need to mop my floors but in the scheme of things, I am true to myself, and to the universe.

And that, to me, is what matters.

Just Be Frigging Grateful!!!!!

SO am now on holidays!
Jealous much????

I have finished at the last school with that gorgeous class and in 2 weeks at a new school and new class - don't get time to get bored!!!

My last few days were spent having lots of fun with the kids (well, we had fun pretty much the whole time, and they did learn too so don't have a go at me) and I also received the most amazing gifts. I only had them for 6 weeks so was truly spoilt by them.

But one of the most precious gifts I received was a beautiful hug and a big 'thank you' from one little angel. Yes, he came back to school for part of the last day, with no notable markings, although I cannot be sure of that.

And he went home with someone who he is not afraid of so I know he was safe for at least one night.

So, I know we all have 'problems' and 'issues' and no doubt I will probably upset a few people with my next few words but honestly, get over yourselves!

So, you feel stressed at work - be grateful you have a job and can earn money.

Unemployed - get out there and find something - there is work out there!

Tired - go to bed or go for a walk.

Selling your house - be frigging grateful you have one to sell.

Want more money - either rob a bank (no, just kidding) or perhaps look at what you have and be grateful or make an effort to earn more and be thankful that you can.

Have to pay child support - they are your frigging kids too!!!!!!

Pissed off at the world/work/ex partner - gee, poor you, get over it.

Because I know of one little angel who may not have a chance to be any of the above.

He does not know whether he will be fed, or hit and bashed, or whether he will have any one to talk to.
He does not know about feeling safe.

He does not know what it is to feel really and truly loved by the people who should do that.

SO I am sorry if I have upset you by comments I have made above. But hey, you are reading this so you are lucky that you can read. You own/rent or use a computer at work so you aren't doing too bad.

ANd maybe, just maybe, your life isn't so bad.

Lisa

p.s. ANd if you are over the serious stuff, why not click on this link for a post from earlier in the year just to remind you that we are all a bit different, in our own unique way....some more than others!!!!

Down to My Last $60K

I am very concerned about a fellow Australian. This woman, indeed a mother, is in a very dire predicament.

You see, she is 'down to her last $60,000'. I don't know if that means for the day, the week or even the month but she is asking "Mummy" to help out with the family finances.

I am sure we all want to help our kids, emotionally and financially where we can, but I just don't know how this woman cope.

Yes, she is one of the daughter's of Australia's richest woman, Gina Rinehart. I actually don't know a great deal about Ms Rinehart other than the fact she came back with a quick reply when the silly old Duke Of Edinburgh made some ridiculous comment to her whilst on his last tour (talk about hanging on your wife's coat tails).

I think Gina may have eaten the Duke??

And of course that she HATED her wicked stepmother, Rose Porteous, but I think she might have been a little bit more worried about her bank accounts rather than if the wicked stepmother would make her wash the floors.

It appears that Gina Rinehart has had a few children to a few different partners - so money obviously can't buy happiness- and that they seem to live all over the world. Three of her four children have launched court action against their mother as it appears she is just not giving them enough pocket money for them to shout a full round at the pub and now the suppression order has been lifted so we can all peak into their world and see what happens when you are that frigging rich.

Of course, this particular daughter, Hope Welker, is very concerned as she can't live anywhere else but the US because anywhere else means someone might kidnap her or her children (gee, Hope, I have NEVER heard of anything like that happening in the Good Ol' US of A).  She is also in desperate need of a full time nanny, a full time cook, oh sorry, a full time CHEF, and a bodyguard (how bout Julia Gillard's body guard - he is good in a scrum)  because they are going to be richer than Bill Gates and EVERYONE ELSE who doesn't have as much money as they do has staff???

Oh wait, maybe I am being  a bit cruel. Hopeless is actually asking for these for her birthday - so it's not just like she is asking for them out of left field. She NEEDS a chef so that her kid can eat properly, she needs a security guard (although I thought she said USA is the safest place) and she MUST HAVE  a nanny so she can go out!

Gina' s son now lives in Thailand with his family, just in case the baddies here get home (once again, NEVER heard of this happening in Thailand). Now, he is doing 'OK' as he is able to 'support' his family in a modest manner. This is because he works as a day trader and so in the last 6 months he has been able to earn about $160 000 or so.  Well, that is one way of 'modestly supporting the family'.

Now I don't mean to be nasty or cynical but can you people GET A FRIGGING LIFE.

Sorry, I don't believe that your mother has ever paraded you around like the Beckham Brood or the Pitt Jolie Sound of Music choir so perhaps you should be grateful for that.  And dear people, I would love to be down to my last $60 000 when all I had to worry about was learning how to cook a good old spag bol or having to support my family on a modest means of 4 times what I earn in a year.

I think there is one missing - maybe Posh ate her - look at her face

So, my suggestions to these poor children of Gina Rinehart is perhaps they might like to go and 'get a job' and in turn, get a 'life' and stop annoying your Mother like the kids do in the lolly aisle in the supermarket.

Anyway-  I'm off now to call Mum and ask her why I don't have a personal masseuse, a driver, and someone who can do all my work so I can just navel gaze. It must be her fault.

Cheers

Hot Potato Hot Potato

I read in the news that Greg Page, the original Yellow Wiggle, is making a comeback.

I am not too sure how I feel about this (I am sure that the Wiggles Company are on edge waiting for my reply!).

My kids grew up with Greg as the Yellow Wiggle, so I guess it may pull a little on the heartstrings that he has been able to get help for his health problems and is feeling better.

However, I can't help but feel sorry for Sam Wiggle - who replaced Greg Wiggle five years ago. It was towards the end of this Wiggly household as our musical tastes evolved and the next CD was to be Guns n Roses!
Go Sam!

Five years is a long time (and how many jobs have I had in that time..one,two, three, four...oh let's not go there) to be a 'replacement' in a job. I think (for what it's worth) is that Sam Wiggle did a mighty fine job. He apparently has been with The Wiggles for 9 years all up in different characters but there must have been a few lemonades drunk when he was finally ceremoniously handed the yellow skivvy (not unlike the handing of the baggy green to our cricketers I would imagine) and high five's all round for Sam.

Now I don't wish illness back on poor old Greg but it is hard not to be cynical as Greg has appeared in No Idea many times (I don't buy it - just read it at supermarket - shhh) bemoaning the fact that he lost millions due to the GFC or KFC or WTF or something.  Man up Greg, you have had a pretty good lifestyle (and I know he worked hard for that so good on him) but lot's of people either lost out as well, or have never even had it for a while.

Oh, he had to sell his mansion at Dural. Oh, he couldn't afford countless overseas trips and holidays anymore. Oh, but he still has one of the world's most extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia which apparently is worth millions - oh no, didn't have to sell that as that would have been too hard to part with.

Toughen up Princess!!!!

He claims he didn't get to say goodbye to all his fans. Greg, mate, their average age is 3 1/2 - do you actually think they give a toss????

Sorry, Greg, I wish you well with your health and hope that your condition is now at a manageable level. But don't start on with all the crap about how great it is to be back, I am pretty sure that all you can see at this stage are the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I believe the band earned $45 million in 2010.

Oh, no, of course you aren't in it for the money.

Wait, those bloody pigs are back flying outside.

Looking at pics of you and Sam Wiggle, my suggestion to you Greg - how about you be Poppy Wiggle

So, what do you think. Should Poppy Wiggle come back and kick the young 'un out?

Cheers

p.s. Disclosure - I have actually worked with Greg Page at a charity event I was running, he is a lovely man and very kind. But still!!!!!

Can You Spare a Dollar????

Stop what you are doing!
Now!

Go on stop!! Well, actually don't because technically that would mean you would stop reading this hilariously funny and witty blog.

But I think I finally know where my life is headed!!!!!

I have found what I can do for work, and where we could live, basically within five seconds of each other.

It will combine so many of my talents, so it is a perfect match (where is greg Evans and Debbie whats'her'name when you neeed them!!!)

So it is all in the little village of Burrawang in The Highlands. Now, Burrawang is one of the few villages we haven't lived in here, although it did look like we were going to live in a great place there this time last year but, as usual, the owners decided to sell.

I really love Burrawang as it is a gorgeous little village with a great atmosphere, not to mention a great pub.

But, as I have been surfing the 'net' tonight....

Yes, I have gone a little blonder, thanks for noticing

I have discovered the perfect business/job and a nice lil shack as well

Of course, there is a slight problem, but just take a look at this

Just imagine my fairy lights out the front here

First the job...

How cool would it be to run this. The Burrawang General Store. It would combine a couple of my favourite things, coffee and chatting. Oh, did I mention it also has a liquor licence????

Inside the very cool Burrawang General Store

And the house...
It comes with a lovely three bedroom cottage right next door, which let me tell you, we would be very happy in.

Is that Lisa's famous Banana and Pecan Bread in the oven there???

I have been doing a small bit of baking to take to the family Christmas gathering so apparently I do make a mean banana and pecan bread, and Georgia is pretty good on the rocky road - both white chocolate and milk choc.

And the Senior Sergeant is thinking of producing his world famous 'Sam's Secret Sauce' which is his own secret herbs and spices (except there are no spices) tartare sauce - perfect with his beer battered fish and chips, or with some fresh seafood. The applause for this sauce on Chrissy Day was deafening.

I may need a wee bit of help on the coffee machine but I can definitely make the shssshhhing noise it makes, and I am a mean hand at doing the dishes.

See, the blonder hair is working a treat

So, I did mention there is a slight problem

They have suggested (WTF???) about $1.5 million.

Now, personally, I actually think that is not too shabby. Well, from looking at it over and over on the internet.

But, yes, the problem is I don't have $1.5 m.  I don't have $150 000. I think I may have $150 so I am more than happy to put that in, if someone else could help me with the zero's. So, really, I am only asking for some zero's which means I am not asking for very much at all. Just a few zero's.

So if anyone out there has a few zero's to spare, please leave me your details and let's do lunch...

I know the best spot!!!!

Hope the car gets thrown in on the deal

Cheers

Lisa xox

p.s. Oh, did I mention that Dad ended up in hospital on Boxing Day - I don 't know they can technically relate heart trouble to my banana bread directly

p.p.s  Maybe if I ask 1.5 million people to give me a dollar - I could do it - what do you think?????
